“Rocking Around the Clock” for the United Way and their Partner Agencies
Destin, FL (March 3, 2015) – Over 350 guests attended the January 23, 2015 event “NIFTY 50s…Gonna Rock Around the Clock” hosted by the United Way of Okaloosa & Walton Counties with partnering sponsor as well as the venue sponsor, the Hilton at Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort. Guests came dressed for the occasion, sporting leather jackets, white t-shirts and rolled up blue jeans, poodle skirts, bobby socks and tennis shoes, polka dot dresses and several ‘Pink Ladies’ could be found hangin’ out at NIFTY 50’s Soda Fountain. The Soda Fountain proved to be the place to be seen and photographed throughout the evening (photos are on United-Way.org).
Martha Miller, Coastal Bank and Trust and the United Way’s 2014 Board Chair, was the evening’s emcee, and Diamond Dan provided the ‘rockin’ music of the 50’s. Special fun throughout the evening was the dance competition by local community leaders under the instruction of Fred Astaire. Our appreciation to the winner of the dance competition, Andi Mahoney of White-Wilson, for coming in first, and the other fantastic dancers, Crystal Boyles of Emerald Coast Aviation and Ashley Vogt of Knoll, Inc.
This annual event was made possible through the donations of community supporters and local businesses. Our deepest appreciation to our monetary sponsors: Hilton Sandestin, Cox Communications, White-Wilson Medical Center, Gulf Power Company, Fort Walton Beach Medical Center, Twin Cities Hospital, Silver Sands Premium Outlets and Sacred Heart Hospital – Emerald Coast.
“NIFTY 50s” raised $40,000 through the dinner, silent auction, dance competition and games. The United Way is deeply grateful to all those who attended and participated, our United Way Board members, Marketing Committee, and everyone that donated their time and support.
