Fort Walton Beach, FL – VITA is an IRS community initiative led by the United Way of Okaloosa-Walton Counties to provide free income tax preparation. The VITA program offers free tax help to people with low-to-moderate income in preparing their tax returns. Community VITA programs in Florida have aided working families in receiving more than $14 million from the Child Tax Credit, providing taxpayers a much needed financial boost to better support their children. A program such as VITA not only helps individuals and families in our community, but it also helps our local economy by helping residents retain funds to save and spend locally.
We are currently recruiting volunteers to work in the Crestview and Fort Walton Beach communities. You can help by preparing and filing tax returns, or as a greeter. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of four hours per week at a VITA site from January 13 – April 15, 2015.
As a VITA volunteer, you will receive IRS training and certification, expand your knowledge of federal tax return procedures, add a new skill to your resume, serve local citizens, and help stimulate the local economy.
To become a volunteer, email email@example.com or call 850.243.0315. Please include all of your contact information along with which location, Crestview or Fort Walton Beach, you would like to serve. To learn more, orientations will be held in Ft. Walton Beach on Monday, December 8th from 10- 12 noon, and in Crestview, December 11th from 10- 12 noon. Please call or email for location and reserve a seat.
