On behalf of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP), the State Set-Aside (SSA) Committee has allocated to Okaloosa County a total of $24,476 for Phase 37 and $123,622 for Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES). This funding was made possible through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
A Local Board will determine how the funds awarded in Okaloosa County are to be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies in the area. The Local Board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds, and any additional funds made available under Phase 37 and CARES.
Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local agencies chosen to receive funds must: 1) be private voluntary nonprofits or units of government, 2) be eligible to receive Federal funds, 3) have an accounting system, 4) practice nondiscrimination, 5) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and 6) if they are a private voluntary organization, have a voluntary board.
Public or private voluntary agencies interested in applying for Emergency Food and Shelter Program funds for Phase 37 or CARES can contact Jackie Schulte, United Way Emerald Coast at email@example.com or (850) 243-0315 for an application. The deadline for applications to be received is Monday, June 29, 2020 at 12pm CST.
