Fort Walton Beach, FL – More than 200 people gathered at Shalimar United Methodist Church on February 27, 2014 to celebrate and to recognize United Way of Okaloosa-Walton Counties accomplishments and the conclusion of the 2013 campaign.

United Way celebrated a successful 2013 campaign under the leadership of Ed Taylor and the other 35 Board of Directors. “I am so pleased with the success of this year’s United Way Campaign, but more importantly, with what success means to others. In a year when the economy was trying to rebound, people remained dedicated to helping those less fortunate. This year’s success exemplified teamwork. We joined together the efforts a hard working United Way staff, a very energetic team of Campaign Ambassadors, great volunteers, Agency partners who work so hard to help those in need, and a United Way Board that never lost focus. I think the results reflect positively on our area. Our theme, LIVE UNITED…Stronger Together, turned out to be just that, all of us United becoming Stronger Together. Thanks to all those involved,” stated Mr. Taylor.

The United Way is a volunteer-driven organization and could not operate without these volunteers. Members from the following United Way Volunteer Committees were recognized: Campaign Ambassadors, Okaloosa Fund Distribution, Walton Fund Distribution, Marketing and Board of Directors. The Volunteer of the Year was awarded to Brice Horwell, a Covenant Hospice volunteer for seven years. The United Way’s website has a list of members for each of these committees:
