READINGPALS

Help a local child build the literacy skills they need to be successful in school... and life. Each week you'll spend 30-60 minutes reading with a child and helping them work on their social-emotional development through our easy-to-use curriculum. Can't commit to reading every week? No problem! You may also serve as a duo (alternating weeks with a neighbor, friend, or colleague) or substitute.

RETIRE UNITED

Seniors and Retirees age 55 and better are invited to join Retire United! We've partnered with nonprofit organizations in Okaloosa and Walton counties to provide volunteer opportunities that match your skills, experience, and lifestyle with the needs of our community. As a member of Retire United, you'll stay active, meet new people, and enjoy member-exclusive perks while addressing our area's most pressing challenges. Whether you choose to give one hour a week or ten, short-term projects or ongoing, you WILL make a difference in our community.

Confidentiality Agreements:
By checking below, I acknowledge that I may review confidential information while volunteering at United Way Emerald Coast (UWEC). For the purpose of this agreement “confidential information” shall include all donor, employee, UWEC business, or any other organization’s information. I hereby undertake to keep in strict confidence any confidential information UWEC entrust to me. I understand that at no time confidential information can be discussed with unauthorized personnel, and all information collected must be used for the sole purpose for which it was originally gathered. I understand that I may receive access to private United Way websites, and I agree to not disclose my login information to any unauthorized personnel allowing them to access the website. Furthermore, I agree to never remove any confidential material of any kind from the premises of UWEC unless authorized by UWEC leadership.
Liability Waiver & Photo Release:
By checking below, I acknowledge that participation in certain volunteer activities are potentially hazardous activities. I understand I should not participate in these activities unless I am medically and physically able to do so, and it is my responsibility to withdraw from these activities. I hereby release, indemnify and hold harmless United Way Emerald Coast (UWEC), its affiliates, and their directors, officers, successors and designs, the organizers, sponsors and supervisors of all activities (parties), from any and all claims, losses, damages, or liability in connection with any injury or claim of damages including attorney fees. I understand and acknowledge that this release discharges parties from any liability or claim I may have with respect to bodily injury, personal injury or property damages that may occur while I am volunteering with UWEC and its community partners. Furthermore, I understand that parties do not assume any responsibilities or obligation to provide me with financial assistance, including but not limited to medical, health or disability benefits in the event of any injury, illness or damage to my property. As a volunteer, I expressly agree that this release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the state of Florida. And I agree that in the event that any clause of this release is deemed invalid, the enforceability of the remaining provisions of this release shall not be affected. I grant UWEC the irrevocable, unrestricted right to use, publish, display and distribute materials bearing my name, voice, likeness or any other identifiable representation of myself in any media, for any purpose whatsoever, including commercial purposes, without further compensation.
Conflict of Interest Agreement:
United Way Emerald Coast’s (UWEC) representatives, whether employees or volunteers, will not engage in any activity, practice, or act which conflicts with or appears to conflict with the interests of UWEC. A conflict of interest exists when a person who is in a position of authority stands to benefit financially either directly or indirectly from a decision he or she could make in such capacity including indirect benefits such as to family members or businesses with which that person is closely associated. UWEC representatives shall not be involved in activities which adversely affect UWEC’s reputation or relations with others, or which interfere with the fulfillment of its mission. Neither employees or volunteers shall use their position or influence or information to which they have access to as a result of their association or any assets or resources of UWEC for their own personal gain, for trading, or for the improper benefit of others. Do you, or your family members, have personal or business relationships with any Partner Agencies or other non-profit programs supported by UWEC that could engender a concern over one or more conflicts of interest?
